Stakeholders Coalition Discussed with the Danish Council Presidency to Strengthen the Animal Health Law Visits Implementation
| The Danish Chief Veterinary Officer, Charlotte Vilstrup Castle, and her deputy met on 15 July FVE, FESASS, and COPA-COGECA to address the practical implementation of the Animal Health Law visits, focusing on biosecurity and disease prevention. The discussion revealed a shared concern: while AHLv has potential, its impact risks being undermined by heterogeneous implementation across EU Member States as shown by FVE’s report. FVE stressed the need to build upon existing systems, clarify roles and responsibilities, and provide concrete, tailored guidance, including on preventive vaccination, farm hygiene, and disinfection of vehicles for all types of husbandry systems. |

| The Danish Presidency’s “Biosecurity 360°” programme was highlighted as a model initiative, emphasising improved farmer understanding and shared responsibility. Drafting of guidelines, including contributions from the Commission and CVO group, is expected to begin in the coming weeks. All stakeholders will reconnect at the end of September, bringing concrete elements for discussion. |
