For its final meeting of the term 2023-2026, the FVE/UEVP Animal Welfare Working Group met in Brussels and remotely to wrap up their SMART Actions. Chair Vibe Pedersen-Lund (DK) and Co-Chair Stefan Gunnarsson (SE) guided discussions on recent legislative developments concerning the welfare of cats and dogs, on-farm animal welfare, animal transport, and fur farming. The experts, including EASVO President Mark McCarthy and UK representative Claire White, also reviewed key consultations and position papers, including the EU livestock strategy and the revised draft on animals in entertainment. Project updates were shared on BroilerNet and TDN, followed by an interactive session gathering reflections for the final report and helping to shape recommendations for the next term (2026–2029).
