The EASVO Young Network met online on 27 March 2026. Participants shared national updates and practical experiences, underlining the added value of the network as a platform for early‑career veterinarians to exchange knowledge and concerns.

Key discussions focused on animal health and disease outbreaks, including recent developments in foot-and-mouth disease and PPR, as well as traceability and food safety challenges, notably regarding spent horses and cross-border movements. The group also explored mobile slaughterhouses, balancing opportunities to reduce animal transport with the need to maintain high standards of official control and animal welfare.

Participants reflected on how to strengthen the Young Network’s impact and outreach, including better communication within national organisations and clearer articulation of the professional value of participation. Upcoming activities were discussed, including future meetings, consultations, and the preparation of targeted surveys to gather field experience from across Member States.

The next meeting will be held on 22nd May.
