The Veterinary Public Health and Sustainability Working Group held on September 5th a dynamic remote meeting, where members prepared under the guidance of Co-Chair Simon Doherty (UK) their position paper on pandemic preparedness for consultation. This paper outlines strategic recommendations for strengthening veterinary involvement to ensure resilience in future crises and will be available for consultation and EASVO Representative Ulrike WInter gave valuable input. Additionally, chair Ole Alvseike (NO) led the group discussion on their next steps, including livestock sustainability, sustainable aquaculture and food waste. The meeting closed with an exchange over external consultations with the European Commission on the future approaches to investigating potential foodborne outbreaks.
