On this World Food Safety Day, EASVO celebrates the efforts made by veterinarians along the food chain in their function as last line of defence for public health. Food safety is often taken as granted but requires considerable effort by all actors.
Therefore, EASVO as a section of FVE with its Veterinary Public Health Working Group supports the role of veterinarians in negotiating, drafting and upholding necessary legislation and international standards, including sustainable policy development, implementation, review and risk analysis (risk management, assessment and communication), global food safety, quality and security and consumer protection.
