| Transboundary and emerging animal diseases such as Bluetongue (BTV), Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD), Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI), African Swine Fever (ASF), and Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) are increasingly affecting Europe. This meeting will explore how biosecurity, vaccination, and culling practices can evolve to match today’s scientific knowledge and technological progress. A key question will also be addressed: who should pay for animal disease prevention and management? |

|
| Speakers include experts from Ghent University, ANSES, and INRAe, alongside representatives from the European Commission, WOAH, and national authorities.
This topic is closely linked to FVE’s ongoing position paper “Prevention is Better than Culling: Animal Vaccination as a Socio-Economic Cornerstone of Animal Health and EU Resilience”, currently under consultation. The meeting will provide valuable insights for those interested in the future of disease prevention policy in Europe.
