Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) poses a significant global challenge, and the European Commission continues to lead efforts to address this threat.
Reliable and comparable data collection and analysis are essential to understand AMR trends and design effective minimisation strategies. EU legislation therefore outlines the procedures for sampling, testing and reporting AMR monitoring in zoonotic and commensal bacteria from animals and food.
A new overview report sets out the outcome of a Commission project, running from 2023 to 2026, on the implementation of these arrangements by Member States, Norway and Iceland.
The report highlights good practices and some common challenges, while identifying opportunities for further improvement.
